Dichromatic lights are the light source
of choice by holistic physicians and researchers in the field
of photobiology.
Dichromatic lights are state-of-the-art in colored light technology.
They provide the purest, most intense color within a very narrow
frequency range. The sun produces a spectrum of color generated
by refraction: most mechanical sources produce color by pigment
subtraction. In contrast, dichromatic sources, which are most
suitable for photobiologic effects, use materials of differing
refractive indices to generate color. Both visual and non-visual
pathways are employed.
In these Dichro-Color lamps, a dichroic filter
is on the inside surface of the cover lens. The
filter produces a specific color by selectively transmitting
only the desired
wavelengths of light, with virtually no energy absorption.
Light of other wavelengths is reflected back into the lamp. Result:
Dichro-Color lamps produce colors that are richer and clearer
and far more intense than those produced by ordinary color lamps.
Dichro-Color bulbs are designed
for a 120 Volt power supply.
